Laptop Screen Replacement :
your screen is smashed or damaged it will obviously require replacement, but if it has failed it may not, there are a number of other (and usually cheaper) components that can cause a screen to fail or to go very dark. Simply ordering a new screen will not necessarily resolve the problem, so we would advise sending the machine in for repair.
Unlike many laptop parts screen parts are very often interchangeable between models and brands. A screen used in a Dell, for example, may also be used in a Compaq or a Sony. We hold large stocks of new and used screens and machines for spares, and it is often cheaper to send the laptop in for repair, rather than to attempt the repair yourself, as we can select an alternative replacement panel. Once we receive the machine we will be able to give you an accurate price for repair.
Laptop Power Jack Repair:
One of the most common repairs we carry out is the re-connecting / re-soldering of broken power sockets / DC jacks. We can repair loose sockets, sockets with broken centre pins, even dc jacks that have completely snapped off.
Signs indicating the connector might be faulty are:
- The laptop wouldn’t power up unless the power lead is held in one position
- When the power lead is wiggled it makes or losses contact
- The laptop only runs on battery power
- The pin in the centre of the jack is loose, pushed in, broken or missing
- The whole connector is loose, pushed in, broken or missing
- Intermittent charging or battery wouldn't charge
- Sometimes when power is connected sparks come out or smells of burnt out
- The battery charge light (LED) flickers when the tip of the AC adapter moves
- The battery charge light wouldn't come on (lights up) when power is connected
- The screen flickers between bright and dim when the tip of the charger moves
- “Scratching” sound is coming from the DC socket when the power is connected
- Jack broken because excessive pressure applied when plugging in or someone tripped over the power lead or laptop dropped and fallen down on socket while plugged in
Most of the laptop makes and models repaired. Among those: Toshiba, Acer, HP (Hewlett-Packard), Compaq, Dell, IBM, Fujitsu Siemens, Samsung, LG, Sony, Packard Bell, NEC, Advent, Medion, Gateway, Patriot, Hi-Grade, Philips, Asus, Averatec, Gericom .... If your make is not listed it is very likely repairable as well,
